Magazine Museum and Shop

This not a mausoleum. It is a celebration. The idea is simple. A five storey shop building in Shoreditch or Soho, somewhere central. Top two floors have a curated exhibition — the best magazines of all time, next floor down — a library with comfy chairs, with wall to ceiling shelves for magazines to look at and read. It will mostly be self-funding as the basement floor will have the best magazine shop in the world and a small space for temporary exhibitions about specific genre of magazines and their part in the social and economic history of their era. The structure is based on the handbag museum in Amsterdam combined with the content of the T Plaza in Tokyo (but no vinyl).

I am approaching the heritage lottery fund, the arts council, my colleagues on the EDO committee and publishing companies to join in and donate great old mags from their archives.
